Located just two minutes from Waiotahe Beach, Paerata Ridge is a hidden gem in the Bay of Plenty — a place where the land truly lives up to its name. Perched above the coastline, it overlooks the East Cape and the Raukūmara Ranges as they roll down and meet Waiotahe Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Blessed with fertile soils and golden sunshine, everything here seems to grow with abundance. Waiotahe feels both wild and welcoming — close to adventure, yet far enough away to still feel like a secret.

 We offer a wide range of hunting and adventure tours to suit different interests and preferences. From fly-in/fly-out red stag hunts and game fishing on a charter boat in Waihau Bay, to jet boat hunting missions up the Motu River — we can customize a package just for you. All of our tours are led by expert guides who are passionate about hunting and fishing. And if that’s not enough, we also offer day tours to Rotorua with Māori cultural experiences in a geothermal wonderland, surfing adventures around the North Island, scenic walks, endless golf course options, fly fishing around Lake Taupō, as well as glow worm and winery tours.

At The Wild Plenty, we aim to give you an experience you’ll never forget — and we do our best to capture the journey through photos and video along the way. We pride ourselves on the fresh food we have access to here in the Bay of Plenty. Most meals feature wild game, fresh seafood, and homegrown vegetables. The food and accommodation are an important part of the experience. With over 10 years of superyacht experience under our belts, we know how to make you feel looked after — and how to pack your days with action and adventure.  

From a young age, hunting was a natural part of life with a father like Tasco leading the way. I’ve always been drawn to the outdoors—whether it’s surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, hunting, or fishing. By trade I’m a carpenter, but was fortunate to spend over a decade travelling the world, working on superyachts as a Deckhand/Carpenter.

These experiences gave me a deep love for adventure, hospitality, and sharing good food. Now, back home on our beautiful piece of paradise, I’m passionate about hosting guests, cooking in our earth oven, and sharing the truly delicious and healthy lifestyle we live.

A Venison Recovery legend in New Zealand, he’s featured in books and documentaries.

In his younger days, he lived for months at a time in the forests, moving from hut to hut while culling deer for the New Zealand Forest service. Which led into jumping out of helicopters and bulldogging deer before the invention of the net gun. With the price of a live deer fetching $3000 over 40 years ago, it might have had you considering jumping out of a helicopter too!

Don’t be fooled by the years; he still has the determination that made him a legend.

An active hunter and passionate fisherman, Bryce was born and raised in Ōpōtiki and knows the surrounding hills and ocean like the back of his hand. A butcher by trade, he’s the reason we enjoy such an incredible variety of wild game and home kill on our table.

Famous for his venison salami and sausages, Bryce transforms our wood-fired pizzas and BBQs into unforgettable meals. His strong connections with local farmers have also opened doors to private stations, giving us exclusive access to some of the region’s best hunting grounds.
