Terms and Conditions


1. INTERPRETATION


1.1 “The Wild Plenty” refers to The Wild Plenty Limited, including any of its representatives, contractors, guides, staff, or appointed agents. The Wild Plenty is a New Zealand–registered Limited Liability Company.

1.2 “Client” refers to the individual named on the Contract or Tax Invoice, as well as any companions, agents, or additional participants—whether named or unnamed—who accompany the primary client.

1.3 “Hunt” refers broadly to any activity or service provided by The Wild Plenty, including but not limited to: hunting, fishing, helicopter transport, boating, touring services, and any additional activities The Wild Plenty may offer including surfing, game fishing and golf.

1.4 All hunts are guided by a qualified professional, hereafter referred to as the “guide.”

2. TERMS OF BOOKING


2.1 Deposits: A non-refundable deposit of 30% is required to confirm a reservation. No booking will be held without this deposit. The remaining balance is due upon completion of your hunt and prior to departure. Clients may elect to pay more than the required deposit, but all payments remain subject to the cancellation terms below. See Section 6: Force Majeure.

2.2 Government Taxes: All quoted prices include applicable New Zealand Goods and Services Tax (GST).

2.3 Currency: Prices are expressed in United States Dollars (USD), unless stated otherwise.

2.4 Currency Variations: The Wild Plenty reserves the right to adjust pricing if currency exchange rates fluctuate.

2.5 Price Adjustments: Estimates and pricing may change without prior notice. Bookings secured with a deposit are protected except as outlined in clause 2.4.

2.6 Payment Methods: Payment may be made by bank transfer, Visa, MasterCard, Eftpos, or cash (a 3% surcharge applies to Visa and MasterCard). Bank transfer or cash is preferred; transfer details supplied upon request.

2.7 Cancellation Policy:

• 90–60 days prior: Deposit may be moved to another agreed date within 12 months of the original booking.

• 60–14 days prior: Deposit is forfeited.

• Within 14 days: 100% of the total hunt cost is charged.

2.8 Overdue Accounts: A 10% interest fee will be applied to overdue balances. All legal or collection costs incurred will be charged to the client.

2.9 Transfers: Deposits and booking arrangements may be transferred to another person with written consent from The Wild Plenty. All original terms remain applicable unless mutually amended.

2.10 Exclusions: Unless stated otherwise, the following are not included: taxidermy and export preparation, flights, insurance, personal alcohol, upgraded accommodation, helicopter costs, firearm hire, emergency lodging, or phone charges.

2.11 Gratuities: Tips are most conveniently given in cash. If you wish to tip guides or staff, 15% of the hunt value is a common benchmark, though tipping remains entirely discretionary. As guiding is seasonal work, gratuities are greatly appreciated.

3. TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS


3.1 Clients are responsible for arranging travel to and from their New Zealand arrival and departure points. Required travel documents, visas, insurance, and certificates must be arranged and maintained by the client. The Wild Plenty accepts no liability should a client be refused entry or if travel delays impact the hunt.

3.2 Travel, Medical & Cancellation Insurance: Clients must arrange appropriate insurance. The Wild Plenty may cancel or deny participation if proof of suitable insurance is not provided, with no liability to the client.

3.3 Liability Insurance: New Zealand’s Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) covers visitors for accidental injury within New Zealand but does not cover illnesses. Clients must obtain suitable travel and liability insurance.

3.4 Medical Information:

3.4.1 Clients must be physically capable of participating in the activities and are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate medical insurance.

3.4.2 If a client becomes ill or injured, The Wild Plenty will make reasonable efforts to access medical care. All associated costs, including transport, are the responsibility of the client.

4. GAME


4.1 The Wild Plenty and its guides will make every reasonable effort to pursue and harvest the species booked but cannot guarantee success or trophy quality. Hunting schedules may be adjusted due to weather, wildlife movement, or other conditions beyond control.

4.2 Wounded or Lost Game: Every reasonable attempt will be made to recover wounded game. If an animal is wounded but not found, the applicable trophy fee will be charged. If another comparable animal is successfully taken, the fee for the lost animal will be reduced to 50%.

5. FIREARMS


Clients are responsible for complying with all New Zealand firearms requirements, including import permits. Please see our Firearms & Licensing page for instructions.

6. FORCE MAJEURE


The Wild Plenty is not liable for delays, interruptions, or cancellations caused by events beyond its control, including illness, natural disasters, war, government actions, transport issues, mechanical failures, severe weather, animal encounters, or other unforeseen circumstances. Clients must obtain adequate travel and cancellation insurance.

7. WAIVER


7.1 While The Wild Plenty endeavours to operate safely, all activities are undertaken at the client’s own risk. By participating, the client (and their estate or representatives) waives all claims against The Wild Plenty, its staff, directors, agents, contractors, and any supporting service providers for injury, illness, property damage, or death arising from any activity, including but not limited to: hunting, fishing, ATV/4WD use, boating, or helicopter flights.

7.2 Use of accommodation, vehicles, equipment, boats, helicopters, or any facilities provided by The Wild Plenty or affiliated operators is entirely at the client’s risk. Neither The Wild Plenty nor facility owners accept liability for loss or damage, including when negligence (including gross negligence) is alleged.

7.3 The Wild Plenty accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings, luggage, equipment, or property. Items found may be returned at the client’s expense.

8. GOVERNING LAW


All disputes, claims, or legal matters related to this agreement are governed exclusively by New Zealand law. Clients submit to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand High Court.

9. GENERAL


9.1 The Wild Plenty may use photos or video taken during the hunt for marketing or promotional purposes without notice or compensation.

9.2 If a client behaves in a way that infringes on the rights, safety, or enjoyment of others, or violates these terms, The Wild Plenty may terminate their participation without refund.

9.3 “Client” includes all participants booked under the primary client. The primary client confirms they are authorised to accept these terms on behalf of all accompanying persons. Failure of any participant to accept these terms allows The Wild Plenty to cancel the hunt with no refund.

9.4 These terms represent the full agreement between the parties. Any variation must be in writing and signed by both parties.

9.5 No additional statements, assurances, or guarantees not written in this agreement are binding on either party.

10. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT


By paying the required deposit, the client confirms they have read, understood, and accepted all terms and conditions. Where applicable, the client confirms they are authorised to accept these terms on behalf of any additional participants.
